You can definitely help

Help us preserve nature’s medicine – volunteer or donate to the Itoozhi Ayurveda Trust’s Herbal Park initiative. Your support will nurture biodiversity and educate future generations about the healing power of plants.

This initiative, named in honor of Sri Uppod Kannan, a respected physician and author of Yogamritham, is dedicated to educating the community about the importance of medicinal plants and the broader tenets of Ayurveda.

The herbal park, inaugurated on 7th September 2012 by the Honorable Minister for Agriculture of Kerala, KP Mohanan, is home to around 250 varieties of Ayurvedic plants. Each plant is accompanied by a data board that provides its scientific and generic names, along with detailed information about its medicinal uses. This setup is designed not only to preserve these valuable species but also to facilitate the transfer of knowledge to visitors, particularly children and students, who frequent the park.

In addition to the existing plants, the Foundation has planted another 200 species as part of an ongoing effort to expand the park’s diversity. This initiative aims to bring the community closer to nature, highlighting the critical role that medicinal plants play in our lives and the urgent need to conserve them.

The Uppod Kannan Memorial Herbal Park has become a popular spot for families, educators, and children. It offers a unique opportunity for young minds to explore the world of medicinal plants, fostering a sense of curiosity and respect for the environment. Through this initiative, the Itoozhi Illam Ayurveda Foundation is not only preserving the rich legacy of Ayurveda but also inspiring future generations to appreciate and protect the natural world.
