The event will be held at IMNSGHSSS, Mayyil, beginning at 11:00 AM IST, and will bring together community leaders, Ayurveda practitioners, educators, and students in a collective reaffirmation of the enduring relationship between nature and Ayurvedic tradition.

Sri. K.V. Abdurahman, Vice President of Iritty Block Panchayath, will also grace the occasion, reflecting local governance’s active support for community-rooted environmental and traditional health initiatives.

Dr. I. Umesh Namboothiri of the Itoozhi Illam Ayurveda Nursing Home will represent the foundation, affirming its commitment to preserving the medicinal plant heritage that lies at the very heart of Ayurvedic practice.

Why This Matters

Marking World Environment Day through the planting of Ayurvedic tree saplings is a gesture that carries profound meaning. Ayurveda’s pharmacopoeia is drawn almost entirely from plants, trees, roots, and herbs — many of which face growing threats from habitat loss and climate change. Programmes like this are not merely symbolic. They are living, growing repositories of traditional medical knowledge that communities, schools, and institutions can nurture for generations to come.

For the Itoozhi Illam Ayurveda Foundation, this event is an expression of a deeply held belief, that the health of people and the health of the environment are not separate concerns, but two expressions of the same ancient wisdom.
