The research paper highlighted various ways Ayurveda can effectively address and halt the progressive blindness caused by Glaucoma in adults.

Dr. Namboothiri’s study on the “unicenteric, interventional trial to assess the efficacy of Boerhaavia Diffusa juice extract through nasal drug delivery (Nasyam) on intraocular pressure in chronic simple Glaucoma” showcased the efficiency of Nasyam as a viable alternative to eye surgery. The method, utilizing the juice extract of the commonly known Thazhuthama herb (Boerhaavia Diffusa), proved effective in controlling intraocular pressure and managing Glaucoma. This groundbreaking research has been published in leading international medical journals, particularly those specializing in Ophthalmology.

Dr. Namboothiri, currently the Medical Director and Additional Chief Physician at Itoozhi Ayurveda, has also been nominated as an Authorized Medical Attendant for the Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala. This nomination marks the first time an Ayurveda specialist has been recognized for this position by the Indian Navy, underscoring the growing acceptance and integration of Ayurveda in mainstream medical practices.

Itoozhi Ayurveda’s commitment to advancing Ophthalmology research is evident through its continuous efforts to blend traditional Ayurvedic principles with modern diagnostic systems and modalities of contemporary medicine. This approach not only enhances the understanding and treatment of eye diseases but also positions Itoozhi Ayurveda as a leading institution in the field, dedicated to improving eye health and offering sustainable, alternative treatments.
