This project, similar in spirit to the Oushadha Kanji initiative, focuses on leveraging the medicinal properties of Amla, a fruit revered in Ayurveda as “Divya Aushada” or the divine medicine.
Amla is known for its exceptional nutritional profile, rich in Vitamin C, antioxidants, and a host of other essential nutrients that support overall health. However, its naturally sour taste can be a barrier to consumption, especially for children. To address this, the Then Nellikkai project pairs Amla with honey, a natural sweetener that not only makes the fruit more palatable but also enhances its health benefits.
The combination of Amla and honey offers a powerful remedy for a variety of common ailments. Regular consumption of this concoction is known to strengthen the immune system, helping to ward off colds, coughs, and flu.
It also supports liver function, aids in weight management, and helps in controlling cholesterol levels. Beyond its physical health benefits, this mixture is also celebrated for its beauty-enhancing properties, promoting healthy skin and preventing signs of aging.
Through the Then Nellikkai project, Itoozhi Ayurveda Trust is doing more than just distributing a healthy treat; it is instilling the principles of Ayurvedic wellness in the younger generation. By making this potent remedy accessible and enjoyable, the Trust is ensuring that the benefits of Ayurveda are passed on to future generations in a way that is both practical and impactful. This initiative, like the Medicated Gruel project, is part of a broader effort to democratize access to Ayurveda, making its timeless wisdom an integral part of modern life.
